The museum of Railway transport, also often called the Locomotive museum, is situated on the railway lines behind the former Warsaw Railway station (which is now a Warsaw Express shopping center). The museum is 10-15 minutes walk from Baltiyskaya or Frunzenskaya metro stations. Here you can see a hundred-years old stream engines, different types of wagons, first diesel locomotives and special railway equipment as snow-removal «wagon». All exhibits in the museum of railway transport are equipped with short explanations in English. The museum is very popular with parents with small children who love climbing the wagons.
The inscription on the locomotive below says ” Forward to communism!”
The most unusual exhibits of the Locomotive museum in St Petersburg are a military railway intercontinental missile complex «Molodets» and a railway artillery facility built in 1938 that was equipped with a gun taken from “Empress Maria” battleship.
