Useful words in Russian for tourists

Here you can find some useful Russian words that will make your trip more comfortable. I won’t give you any phrases as many other sites do as I can’t figure out how you are supposed to understand the answer. 🙂 capital letters mark where the stress is.

Здравствуйте ( ZdrAvstvuyte) – Hello
До свидания ( Do svidAniya) – Good bye
Спасибо (SpasIbo) – Thank you
Извините (izvinIt’ye) – Excuse me
Открыто (otkrIto) – Open
Закрыто ( ZakrIto) – Closed
Перерыв (pererIv) – Break
Обед (ob’ed) – break
Вход (VhOd) – Entrance
Выход (VIhod) – Exit

Касса ( kAssa) – Ticket office
Билет (BilEt) – ticket
Один (odIn) – one
Два (dvA) – two
Три (trI) – three
Билет в один конец (BilEt v odIn konEts) – One way ticket
Билет туда и обратно ( BilEt tudA I obrAtno) – return ticket
For example, if you want to buy one return ticket to Moscow you say “odin (one) bilet (ticket) do Moskvi ( to Moscow) tuda y obratno (return)
Метро (metrO) – metro ( BTW, Entrance to the metro is marked with M sign)
Жетон (jetOn) – metro ticket
Маршрутка (MarshrUtka) – private mini-bus
Пересадка (PeresAdka) – transfer ( to another line, mean of transport) –
Остановка (ostanOvka) – stop
Следующая остановка (slEduyushaya ostanovka) – next stop
Трамвай (tramvAy) – tram
Автобус (avtObus) – bus
Карточка (kArtochka) – (multi-use transport ticket for one particular or several means of transport)
Такси (TaksI) – taxi
Аэропорт (aeropOrt) – airport

Взрослый (vzrOsliy) – adult
Ребенок (rebEnok)- child
Иностранец (inostrAnets) – foreigner
Скорая помощь (skOraya pOmosch) – ambulance
Полиция (PolItsiya) – police
Отель (otyEl’) – hotel
Меню (menYU) – menu
Счет (schEt) – bill
Банк (bAnk) – bank
Обмен валюты (obmEn valYuti) – currency exchange
Банкомат (bankomAt)- ATM
