Catherine palace tour
A private Catherine palace tour is a “must do” for the majority of tourists . The Catherine palace was a summer residense of tzars built in the first half of the 18th century. It boasts lavishly decorated rooms that impress visitors with the abundance of gilded woodcarvings & elegant decorations. A real gem of the Catherine palace is the Amber room that is all decorated with semi-precious stone – we will also see it on a tour as well.
After the tour of the Catherine palace, we will take a walk in the gardens. They are beautiful any time of the year. We will see elegant and unusual pavillions and will enjoy the peace and beauty of nature after a busy palace. If you are interested, a visit to Pavlovsk palace or Peterhof can be included into the tour .

Yes, The Amber room is a part of the Catherine palace and it’s always included.
The Catherine palace is situated about 24 km from St Petersburg, so we take a metro and a minibus to get there.
My husband and I booked a tour of the Cstherine palace with Alisa in September. We chose public transport because we wanted to learn how to use it during our time in Russia. We were one of the first people to arrive to the Catherine palace , so the rooms were still empty and we were able to take very good pictures! I did some group tours to other attractions while in Russia. When you are on a group tour, you see what the group leader wants to show you, which is not necessarily what you want to see. A private guide shows you what you want to see, making it well worth the additional cost! Our day with Alisa was perfect - I cannot thank her enough for the wonderful experience!
Catherine’s palace is like a time capsule that brought me back to the imperial Russia time where elaborate parties were held. It’s like the movie Mid-night in Paris where i felt i travelled back in time. I enjoyed it a lot. Everything was so glamourous. In particular, i was in complete fixation with the Amber Room depicting our 5 senses: smell, taste, touch, sound and sight. The architecture of the palace was magnificent and full of history.I like Alexander palace as well. I learned a lot of history from both palaces and their importance in Russian history. The marble bridge, turkish bath and Chinese garden were all interesting to me. I really enjoyed the tour!!
